Introduction
With an area of 40.32 square kilometers and a population of 4082 (to 01/01/2010) Bad Leonfelden is the fourth largest population and the ninth largest city in the district.
History
Bad Leonfelden was first mentioned in writings in r. 1154 as Lonveld and before 1356 received market rights. After the Hussite wars were Leonfelden established fortifications, the town into one of four fortified border in defense against the Czechs. Position on two trade routes leading from Bohemia to the Danube brought prosperity to citizens, although the business of free cities was militarily controlled the court.
