The exact year of the first settlement is unknown but it is supposed that there was a mining industry even at the time before the Romans came. The first writen mention reaches to the year 1156 when the town was signed with the name „Pramau“.
In 16th Century  the city has begun to prosper when mining became more intensive. After the end of mining and metalurgy in 1908 the industry reappeared after the World War II.

Fieberbrunn is the largest city in Piller´s Lake valley. It has middleeuropean climate with cold winter, bland spring and autumn and warm summers.

Fieberbrunn je populárne zimné stredisko. Rovnomenný lyžiarsky areál má k dispozícii 19 zjazdoviek, ktoré spolu tvoria viac ako 30 km a sú spojené spolu 11 rôznymi vlekmi.
Pre letnú turistiku a kúpanie je významné jazero Lauchsee, na ktorom leží aj hrádza Simona Schwaigera.
